Build the "deck daddy"

You might notice that our packaging isn’t particularly fancy- many of our components arrive wrapped in cardboard and rather than let those materials go to waste, we reuse them to package our products for safe delivery to your home. It’s our way of reducing waste and giving materials a second life, all while ensuring your order arrives in great shape.

What’s in the box

  • 1x Front Panel – this is the panel with the Plant Where You Can’t flower
  • 1x Back Panel
  • 2x End Panels
  • 1x Base Tray
  • 2x Legs
  • 8x Powder-Coated Bolts with wing nuts – used to join the front, back and end panels together
  • 6x Non-Powder-Coated Bolts – used to secure the planter box, base tray and legs together

Tips and Tricks

  • Check the arrows on each panel before you start. The arrows should all point up once assembled.
  • The panel with the flower is the front of your Deck Daddy.
  • The powder-coated bolts and wing nuts are used to build the main planter box.
  • The non-powder-coated bolts are used to secure the planter box and base tray to the legs.
  • The holes in the base tray are drainage holes and are meant to be there.
  • We recommend loosely fitting all bolts first, then tightening everything once it is lined up correctly.

Step 1 – Build the planter box

Lay out your front panel, back panel and two end panels.

Check that all of the arrows are pointing upwards and make sure the panel with the flower is positioned at the front.

Step 2 – Join the panels together

Using the 8 powder-coated bolts and wing nuts, attach the two end panels to the front and back panels.

Once all four panels are connected, you should have the main rectangular planter box shape.

Before moving on, check that:

  • All arrows are pointing upwards.
  • The flower panel is at the front.
  • All 8 powder-coated bolts are in place.
  • The wing nuts are secure on the inside of the planter.

Step 3 – Position the legs and base tray

Place the two legs on a flat surface in the correct position underneath the planter.

Sit the base tray on top of the two legs, making sure the holes in the base tray line up with the holes in the legs.

The drainage holes in the base tray should remain unobstructed.

Step 4 – Sit the planter box in place

Carefully place your assembled planter box on top of the legs and base tray.

Line up the holes in the planter panels with the holes in the base tray and legs.

At this point, the base tray should be sitting between the planter box and the legs.

Step 5 – Secure everything together

Using the 6 non-powder-coated bolts, secure the planter box, base tray and legs together.

The top four bolts will pass through:

the planter side panel → the base tray → and into the legs.

The remaining two bolts secure the lower connection points of the planter to the legs.

Start all six bolts loosely first so you can make any small adjustments and get everything lined up properly.

Once all six bolts are in place, tighten them securely.

Step 6 – Final check

Give your Deck Daddy a quick once-over:

  • All bolts are secure.
  • Both legs are straight and firmly attached.
  • The base tray is sitting securely between the planter box and legs.
  • The drainage holes are clear.
  • The planter is sitting level and stable.

And that’s it — your Deck Daddy is ready to plant!
